1) This organ controls all unconscious functions of the body. For example, logical mentality, memory, different emotions. It is a center of wide system of communication. Its weight is about 1.3 kg. It contains about 100 billion nerve cells and some million associated cells. In spite of its weight is only 29% from body weight, 20% of all the blood, pumping by the heart enters this organ.
2) It controls the water volume in the body, eliminating its superfluous amount in form of urine and makes the blood free from waste products. Its weight is 0.14 kg, its length is 10-12 cm and its width is about 5 sm. At average 2000 liters of blood pass through this organ daily.
3) Its muscular contractions make the food soft and mix it in a homogeneous mass. This organ produces substances, destroying some components of food until simple molecules. Its length is about 25 sm. This organ is the widest part of the digestive system. Glands of its mucous membrane produce about 3 liters of gastric juice daily. About 500 kg of food pass through this organ during only one year.
4) It performs some important functions: produces the bile, controls the amount of glucose in the blood and stores some vitamins and mineral substances. Besides, it is the biggest inner organ of the human body. Its weight is 1.4 kg. It is situated in the upper right part of the abdominal cavity. This organ is divided into two lobes and contains about 75 000 lobules.
5) The sole function of this organ is gaseous exchange for replenishing the blood with oxygen and eliminating carbon dioxide. It is the biggest organ of the chest. It contains about 300 million alveoli.
6) It is a muscular organ, pumping the blood and making it move through capillaries and blood vessels throughout the body. It is situated in the chest immediately behind the breast bone. It makes about 70 beats per minute and 100 000 contractions daily.
