Saint-Petersburg University of State Fire Service of EMERCOM (MChS) of Russia is the oldest educational establishment of this kind in Russia.

Its history dates back to October, 5 1906, so, our educational establishment has more than 100 years of a successful training of personnel for the State Fire Service.

Now the University provides higher education as well as the advanced training for higher management staff in the field of State Fire Service. The University also trains specialists in the following fields:

applied mathematics, business accounting, analysis and audit, psychology, forensic inquiry (судебная экспертиза), organization and technology of information protection, law, life safety, system analysis.

It’s not very easy to become a student or a cadet of the University. To enter the University one must be physically and mentally healthy and successfully pass exams on mathematics, Russian, physics and physical training.

At the University much attention is being paid to the practical professional training. The cadets and students study general disciplines (mathematics, physics, chemistry, computing, philosophy, economics, history etc.), as well as special subjects.

The University possesses different laboratories, including computer and language laboratory, training fire units, training towers, 2 gyms. There is also a good library containing about 300 thousand volumes of books.

Much attention is paid to the physical and military training. There are well equipped gym halls in the University where cadets and students can train every day. Some cadets and students take part in sport competitions in different cities.

The training of highly professional staff depends on the research scientific potential of the University. Now more than 200 doctors and candidate of science work at the departments of the University.
