UNIT 7. DISASTERS
Many people believe that we are destroying the environment. We continue to cut down rainforests and increase global warming. Our activity leads inevitably to various climatic changes and environmental disasters in the long run. These dramatic events may strike quite unexpectedly and take thousands of human lives. In some cases natural disasters have lead to the loss of millions of lives and great material damage.
Points for discussion:
1. Have you heard of any disaster which struck your imagination?
2. When and where did it happen? What were the causes and consequences?
3. How did you know about it?
4. Describe the emotions you experienced when you first heard about it.
5. What was the role of emergency services in that critical situation?
