Testes are pair oval bodies, they are situated in scrotum. Two surfaces, medial and lateral; two borders: anterior and posterior; and two poles: upper and lower - are distinguished in testis. The posterior border of testis is approached by spermatic cord and epididymis (located in posterior border). Epididymis – narrow, long body in which there are head of epididymis, tail(cauda) and body (corpus) present. Between surface of epididymis and testis is called sinus epididymis. Testis is invested by fibrous coat called tunica albuginea covering parenchyma of testis. On posterior border, fibrous tissue penetrates glandular tissue as septum, this is mediastinum of testis, from it fibrous septa radiate. And thus divide parenchyma into lobes (lobuli testis). Parenchyma of testis composed of seminiferous tubules, in which 2 parts are present: convoluted seminiferous tubules and straight seminiferous tubules. Straight seminiferous tubules open into network – rete testis. Efferent ductules, then they drain into canal of epididymis – and is continuous with ductus deferens.
The secretion of male reproductive organs, the semen is produced in convoluted seminiferous tubules.
