Расстройства дыхания в период сна имеют разнообразные клинические симптомы. Наиболее распространенными из них являются ощущение неосвежающего сна, избыточная дневная сонливость и утомляемость, когнитивные расстройства. В настоящее время существует все больше доказательств того, что расстройства дыхания в период сна приводят к развитию часто встречающихся сердечнососудистых осложнений и метаболических расстройств, включая системную артериальную гипертензию, нарушения функции сердца, а также резистентность к инсулину. Самым распространенным дыхательным расстройством в период сна является обструктивное апноэ сна, для лечения которого назначается чрезмасочная СРАРтерапия в период сна. Центральное апноэ сна может развиваться в виде самостоятельного расстройства или в сочетании с центральными нарушениями дыхания в период бодрствования, сопровождающимися гиповентиляцией. Чаще всего центральное апноэ сна сочетается с периодическим дыханием (дыхание Чейна - Стокса), особенно у пациентов с застойной сердечной недостаточностью. Центральное апноэ сна способно вызывать ухудшение функции миокарда и усиливать прогрессирование заболевания. Чрезмасочная СРАРтерапия является эффективным методом лечения центрального апноэ сна, в том числе она может оказывать положительное воздействие на функцию сердца у больных с синдромом Чейна - Стокса.
